Myanmar is globally recognized for producing some of the world’s finest gemstones, particularly jade and rubies, which are known for their exceptional quality and value.

Jade

Myanmar is the world’s largest producer of jadeite, the highest quality form of jade. The Hpakant region in Kachin State is famous for its rich deposits of jade, which are highly sought after, particularly in China. The jade mined in Myanmar is considered some of the finest in the world, contributing heavily to Myanmar's gemstone exports.

Rubies

The Mogok Valley in Mandaly is renowned for producing some of the best rubies in the world. These Burmese rubies are considered the benchmark for ruby quality due to their rich, deep red color and clarity. Myanmar’s rubies are a major export product, particularly to markets in China and Thailand.

Sapphires

While less abundant than rubies, sapphires are still mined in Myanmar, particularly in the Mogok Valley. The country is known for producing high-quality blue sapphires, which are used in the luxury jewelry market.

Myanmar is also a source of spinel, tourmalines, and garnets, which are highly valued in the global gemstone market.
